It is a classic method sparkling wine, known all over the world, whose name derives from the Champagne region, located in the north-east of France, where it is produced.

His invention is probably due to the Benedictine abbot Dom Pierre Pérignon, who among others had the merit of defining the most suitable grape variety (the pinot noir) for the production of the well-known wine.
