The name of the Falanghina probably derives from the use of poles called “phalanx” which since ancient times were used to support the vines. Although having written testimonies only starting from the mid-nineteenth century, experts maintain that it is a contemporary vine with respect to Fiano and Greco, which instead date back to the first century BC.
